🎣 Wet, windy and cold but I was still out on the bank at first-light

We still haven’t recovered from Storm Bert yet, and heavy overnight rain meant that the pool I fished certainly wasn’t any better, as far as the conditions were concerned.

The wind direction changed to a northerly, which was noticeable.

Wet, windy and cold.

I was up while it was still dark though, ready to cast a line at first-light.

Whatever the conditions, the angling show continues. Indeed.

I threw out a small amount of crumb and maggots, cast out and waited.

I didn’t even get a bite, however the pike were very active.

There was a constant scattering of small fish around my baited area.

Tackle, bait and tactics

Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 14 hook.

Fished a couple of rod-lengths from the bank in six-feet of water, I presented three red maggots / two white maggots over red/white maggots and brown crumb.

Nature notes

The sighting of the ring-necked parakeets continues. It might be the areas that I’m in but, nevertheless, I’m certainly getting my fair share of the birds putting in an appearance.  There were two on this occasion.
