As the snow flies, on a cold and grey Staffordshire morn, I went fishing

🎣 Fishing in the snow

The weather forecast said sleet, however when I looked out of the window at 4.00 a.m., the snow was already several inches deep.

By the time I loaded the car to go fishing a few hours later, the main concern was getting the car off the drive.

I did though, and I made my way to a small pool.

I was certainly up against it, that was a fact.

Fish on the bank?

I didn’t even get a bite.

🪱Tackle, bait and tactics

Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 14 hook.

Fishing a couple of rod lengths from the bank in six-feet of water, I presented bread over bread mash and a small amount of brown crumb.

🦢 Nature notes

Two ravens calling at first light, heading out of nearby woodland. I’ve seen these birds before at dusk, as they head into the wood to roost.

Grey wagtail in flight across the pool.
