🎣 A change of bait and location and I’m back on track

I’m certainly always up for a piscatorial challenge and, after blanking this morning on bread after roach, I went to the fishing tackle shop and bought some maggots.

I was then back out at the other end of the day, in another spot and obviously, using a different bait.

When the going gets tough, use maggots.

On a small pool, I fished close to dense overhanging branches.

My plan worked. Isn’t it always nice when that happens?

It was an all-roach catch and I lost count of the number of fish caught.

Brilliant, isn’t it, when that happens?

Tackle, bait and tactics

Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 14 hook.

Fishing three rod lengths from the bank in 6.5 feet of water, I presented three red maggots over red/white maggots and brown crumb.

Nature notes

Four noisy ring-necked parakeets in trees on the far bank.

Male merlin in flight across the pool into dense bushes.
