🎣 Another prawn after perch session and focusing on the tackle set-up
Buoyed by yesterday’s quality perch on the pool, I returned this morning, hoping for more of the same.
It was a chilly start to the day but, with the air temperature just the right side of zero, I didn’t have to scrape ice on this occasion, just wipe the dew from the windshield instead.
Arriving at the pool, I was fishing in no time at all, courtesy of having the rod already made up and ready to go.
I cast out, settled back, made my first cup of tea of the day and waited.
And waited. And waited. And waited.
In two hours, I didn’t get any movement on the float at all.
I still recorded a video though, showing the set-up, which hopefully you will find helpful.

Tackle, bait and tactics
Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.
Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 8 hook.
I fished a couple of rod-lengths out in six-feet of water.
I fed loose prawns and fished prawn on the hook.
Nature notes while fishing
They are resident in this area and I saw – and heard – two ring-necked parakeets in the woodland alongside the pool.
