šŸŽ£ Back from Ireland and back on the bank

By the time I got back home from my trip to Dublin, there was only an hour or so of light left.

Plus, I didn’t exactly want to go straight in, load the car with fishing gear, and then go out again.

That would be quite obsessive, wouldn’t it?

One point that I do labour a lot, is that there’s a big difference between passion and obsession.

After catching up with my wife, regarding everything that has been going on during the week, we then went off to collect our granddaughter, who stays with us every weekend.

We also did some shopping as well, and then we returned home to spend the rest of the evening together.

Today though, after a good night’s sleep, I was up nice and early to go fishing.

There’s a time and place for everything, isn’t there?

Back on the small pool that I have fished a lot in recent weeks, I cast out, settled back and made my first cup of tea of the day.

That was the height of action in the session.

In the couple of hours I was there, I didn’t even get a bite.

Tackle, bait and tactics

Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 8 hook.

I fished a couple of rod-lengths out in six-feet of water.

I loose fed prawns and fished prawn on the hook.

Nature notes while fishing

Two resident moorhens squabbling.

I heard one squawk, looked up and saw two ring-necked parakeets in flight.

Raven calling in flight. It landed in trees behind the far bank and continued to cronk, before moving on.

A pair of ravens flew overhead later, one calling.

Cormorant in flight.
