šŸŽ£ Before Cardiff, a short perch session on a pool

The prawn after perch approach on the small pool has definitely been hard going of late, coinciding with the falling water temperature.

Although the days are quite reasonable, the nights are chilly, and that’s taking its toll on the water.

On this morning’s session, which was a short one before I leave for Cardiff, I stared at a motionless float for about two hours.

I didn’t even get an enquiry and there wasn’t a single fish of any description showing. It was very damp and foggy and everywhere – on both sides of the surface – looked lifeless.

At least I went fishing but, for my next outing, there will be a change of approach. Watch this space, as they say.

Tackle, bait and tactics

Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 8 hook.

I fished a couple of rod-lengths out in six-feet of water.

I fed loose prawns and fished prawn on the hook.

Nature notes

Not much bird movement while fishing but lots of wood pigeons in flight. You can always rely on them.
