🎣 Before I go to Ireland, a fishing session

The man flu continues and, going to bed last night, that’s the worst I have felt during the last few days.

However, the alarm was still set so that I could go fishing first thing

Waking up, although I still felt ill, I knew that I had turned the corner.

It’s just as well because later, I’m on my football adventures, this time to Ireland.

As far as the fishing was concerned though, it was very slow indeed.

Nothing at all was showing on the pool and not even small roach – which are numerous in that particular place – were topping.

It’s hard to put your finger on it sometimes, because the conditions were extremely mild, and you would have thought that the fish were feeding well.

In two hours, I didn’t even get a single dip on the float, never mind a fish on the bank.

Tackle, bait and tactics

Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 8 hook.

I fished a couple of rod-lengths out in six-feet of water.

I loose fed prawns and fished prawn on the hook.

Nature notes while fishing

Two pairs of mallards landed on the pool.

Two resident moorhens.

Three grey wagtail sightings, probably the same bird.
