November 1
Nice to see the nuthatch still visiting the feeding station regularly. It eats sunflower seeds but mostly takes nuts.
November 3
A very close tawny owl calling just before dawn, but I couldn’t see it.
I have suspected this for a while, due to the frequency of birds seen, but this morning we had two nuthatches on the feeding station.
November 4
A pair of stock doves feeding in the garden.
November 5
In the garden this morning: chaffinch, goldfinch, greenfinch, nuthatch (2), stock doves (2,1).
November 6
Green woodpecker feeding on the back lawn. First of the year, a new garden tick.
Two starlings on the feeding station, with a single bird later.
November 8
Muntjac calling from the woodland beyond the lane after dark.
November 9
Cleaning the pool, scooped a tiny smooth newt in the net, as well as lots of tadpoles.
Stock dove feeding on the lawn.

Herring gull in low flight.
Great spotted woodpecker feeding on fat ball feeder.
November 12
Two male blackbirds on the back lawn at first light. One in the front garden.
November 13
Nuthatch on the feeding station.
Independent of each other, male and female blackbird on the back lawn.

Stock dove on the lawn.

Male and female blackbirds on back lawn.
November 21
Arrived home late, female blackbird feeding on the lawn. Our winter visitors are bedded in now.
November 22
Great spotted woodpecker on the feeding station.

Male sparrowhawk in the garden, perched on a fence.
Nice to see a nuthatch in the garden, first one for a week or so.
November 25
Carrion crow on roof of bungalow below our back garden.
November 27
Thirty minutes birding from the upstairs back window.

Flock of eleven goldfinches in the immediate gardens late afternoon.
