🎣 On the bank for Storm Bert and a couple of pointers for storm fishing
I often talk about being up for a challenge and, as far as this morning was concerned, that was most certainly the case with Storm Bert pushing its way across the country.
There’s more on storm fishing in the video but, as I sat next to the pool, a dog walker who I see on a regular basis, passed by and said, “I admire you “.
I knew where he was coming from, and that was confirmed when he said it was because I’m out in all conditions, and nothing stops me from fishing.
I returned the compliment because, on that particular pool, I’ve also seen him on many occasions when the conditions have not been particularly positive.
When other dogs get a day off, his doesn’t.
The angling? Well, there’s always tomorrow!
The accompanying video features a couple of pointers on fishing in storms.
Tackle, bait and tactics
Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.
Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 14 hook.
Fishing two rod-lengths from the bank in six-feet of water, I presented three red maggots over red/white maggots and brown crumb.
Nature notes
Not much showing, due to the conditions, but a female sparrowhawk flew low across the pool and into fields beyond.
Two moorhens and two pairs of mallards on the pool.
