🎣 A tench session to start the day and two out of three ain’t bad
What a difference a week makes.
This time seven days ago we were basking in extremely warm weather, however we are now at the other end of the spectrum. Waking this morning and loading the car, it felt more like a late autumn/early winter day, as opposed to being just into the month of July.
Welcome to the United Kingdom.
No wonder British people talk about the weather constantly!
Secondly, it was originally fishing only (Stewart Bloor’s Angling Journal) but, as the title now suggests (Welcome To My World), it covers a much wider area of content.
It was my usual approach, fishing a grain of corn over brown crumb and sweetcorn at 20 metres.
The brisk wind meant that bite detection was always going to be an issue.
I had no problems though with the first take, as the tip pulled round, and I lifted into a tench.
In reference to the previous session, I managed to get this one in the net and on the bank.
It’s a fine line sometimes, but I was glad to be on the right side of it on this occasion.
My third tench session of July, and with a blank sandwich between two sessions where I did catch, in the words of Meat Loaf: ‘Two out of three ain’t bad’.
Tackle: Fox Barbel Special 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel. 6lb Maxima Chameleon, with a six-inch hook-length created by a small shot and an 8mm bead. Above that was a 1/2 ounce lead. Size 10 Drennan Super Specialist hook.
