🎉 ✍️ Happy birthday, blog
I posted my very first blog post on July 5, 2003, which means today is my 21st birthday, or at least my blog hits the landmark.
All those years ago I was tench fishing, and today I did exactly the same, albeit on a different venue.
It has, naturally, evolved over the years with two major changes.
First of all, it began life as a Saturday only site, but now it’s updated every day.
It is, in effect, a personal journal that I make public.
What does the next 21 years have in store?
Well, first of all, as I’ll be in my 84th year I’d just like to be alive!
Joking (well, sort of) aside, the immediate plan is to make the website my sole internet presence.
Apart from YouTube, of course, but that’s there just to host the videos that I then embed here.
In recent times, I have deleted my personal Facebook account, Facebook page, Instagram account and LinkedIn page.
Not for any sinister reasons, but rather just time management, although I’m not keen on the negativity that you do read on a regular basis while on social media.
‘What did you do today, dad?’
‘I went on X, son, and trolled loads of people. Some even replied, and I got into some great arguments.’
‘That’s cool, dad, I want to be just like you when I grow up.’
Therefore, it’s possibly the early stages of farewell to my last remaining social media account, X, or Twitter as it was previously known.
I only post blog entries on there anyway and I’m going to see how July goes, in terms of whether it’s worth keeping.
It is good for information and it is a place to promote the blog, so I’ll see what the month ahead has in store.
