🗳️ 🎣 Once Labour hit 326 seats, I went tench fishing
After following the election results right through the night, as soon as labour passed the 326 seats total and therefore formed the government, I went fishing.
That coincided nicely with first light and, in no time at all I was on my way, heading for the lake that I have fished a lot in recent times.
I baited the swim with my usual brown crumb and sweetcorn, cast out a grain of corn, settled back and made myself a cup of tea.
I had a bite, struck into the fish, played it and lost it!
Looking across the water, and in particular the lack of tench feeding bubbles, made me realise that it was going to be a tough session but would I get a second bite of the cherry?
I did get liners, so I knew that fish were out there, that at least was a positive.
When I had a second bit of the cherry, I was hoping that this time it would make the net.
It did and that’s the tench in the lead image.
Not long after, I went home and had a couple of hours in bed.
Tackle: Fox Barbel Special 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel. 6lb Maxima Chameleon, with a six-inch hook-length created by a small shot and an 8mm bead. Above that was a 1/2 ounce lead. Size 10 Drennan Super Specialist hook.
Nature notes: Skylark singing over field less than 100 metres from where I parked my car. Three tiny mallard ducklings with their mother, an almighty swirl and two remained. On the way back to the car I saw eleven with both parents. How many of those will survive pike attacks, I thought to myself.
