🎣 After work, fishing on the upper Severn

📹 The River Severn in Montgomeryshire

On the eve of The New Saints UEFA Champions League game against FK Dečić, after doing the press conference interview with Craig Harrison and a few other things, instead of heading eastwards along the A5, I went the other direction into Wales.

With my fishing gear in the car, it was destination upper Severn.

The stretch that I headed for is certainly not overfished.

I could tell that by the undergrowth which was undisturbed on the car park, never mind on the approach to the river and the bankside itself, where the vegetation was very dense indeed to put it mildly.

There was evidence that one other fisherman had been on there, but even then the undergrowth was growing back, so it must have been close to opening day.

The river itself was looking very good indeed at normal summer level.

I fished mid-river, with two white maggots on the hook and, on a regular basis, threw small balls of brown crumb and mixed maggots into the baited spot.

The action was non-stop – I caught chub (lost count) dace (one) and perch (one) – and you can follow the session via the video.
