🎣 Inspired by the small pond perch, I returned, this time with a focused approach but it’s mostly about the pike
Back home from my morning small pond session, I kept my fishing clothes on and went to work in the garden.
I had a very enjoyable couple of hours there – I do like gardening very much indeed, especially as it’s now one of my new semi-retirement hobbies.
Then, after some food, I went fishing again.
This time, inspired by my morning session on the pond, I decided to return but with a different approach.
Most of the tackle was the same, but the big difference was that the smaller hook was replaced by a larger one and the single maggot by a prawn.
The capture of the perch earlier in the day had got me thinking about switching to a very specific bait in order to test the potential further.
It wasn’t the ideal time to target bigger perch but, with a game on television that I wanted to watch later, it was a case of making the most of every opportunity.
Plus, of course, as long as your bait’s in the water you’ve always got a chance.
I fished over brown crumb, maggots and prawns.
You can follow the session via the video and I almost called the blog post Pike Stopped Play.
