š£ This morningās session and I donāt go fishing just to avoid a blank
I was awake well ahead of first light this morning, so rather than force myself to go back to sleep, which my body didnāt want anyway, I got up and did some work.
With The New Saints versus Astana UEFA Conference League fixture on the immediate horizon, I wrote the match preview for that.
It means that I donāt have to do it later in the day.
Then, I went fishing.
Back on the small pool where Iāve done a lot of sessions in recent weeks, it was pretty much the same approach as previously.
If something is not broken, donāt try and fix it.
On this occasion though, I didnāt land any perch.
However, there were roach out there and I was getting the prawns whittled away.
Without doubt, I could have switched to a smaller piece of prawn and a smaller hook and caught, but if youāre going fishing just to avoid a blank then thatās the wrong angle to come from, as far as Iām concerned.
I want to catch bigger fish, and that means sometimes you might not always get something on the bank.
Thatās the nature of the beast.
Tackle, bait and tactics
Greys Prodigy TX 12ā rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.
Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 8 hook.
I fished one rod-length out in six-feet of water.
I loose fed prawns and fished prawn on the hook.
Nature notes while fishing
Jays were very active flitting from woodland to open ground. At least two different birds.
Calling red kite flew across the pool.
Three very noisy – and very active – ring-necked parakeets in the immediate area.
