🎣 The Monday morning angling show, starring an all-perch cast and Bayside Radio
The blog is still going strong though.
Good morning Monday and, although I’ve had a very busy few days, nevertheless I was awake while it was still dark, in order to do some fishing.
The session wasn’t planned, as you can see from the video, but I’ve always got bait in stock and I’ve always got a venue that will spring to mind, in this case a prawns and small pool combination.
It was a very pleasant morning indeed and in the first half a dozen casts, I had instant bites.
It did slow down after that but I still continued to catch, albeit at a slower rate.
Once home, showered and changed, I did my weekly recordings with Jeff Pearson for Bayside Radio.
It’s fishing first, followed by Welsh football and they go out on Thursday and Friday afternoons respectively.

Tackle, bait and tactics
Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.
Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.
A sharp drop-off from the margins, so fishing in six-feet of water, just off the rod tip.
I loose fed prawns but no brown crumb on this occasion.
The reason for that was to create minimum disturbance, therefore hoping to keep the pike at bay.
Plus, baiting exclusively with prawn, I also hoped to avoid the shoals of small roach, which also act as a magnet for the aforementioned predator.
Nature notes while fishing
A calling green woodpecker in flight.
Jay in flight.
Three ring-necked parakeets in flight. Silent on this occasion.
A flash of colour, as a kingfisher flew past, low over the water.
