🎣 Hitting both the bird and fish jackpots within minutes of each other

After yesterday evening’s worm snatching on the local green, I was up nice and early this morning to do some fishing with the aforementioned creatures as bait.

Although it was a dry start to the day, nevertheless all around you could see the evidence of the heavy rain that we had yesterday.

The ground where I parked my car was very wet, therefore I located the vehicle in such a way that I wasn’t going to get bogged down.

Plus, the water of the small pool definitely had a brown tinge to it, courtesy of the soil that had been washed in.

You can follow the session in the video, where I caught both perch and a small roach, with a super striped the star of the show from an angling perspective.

Sharing the limelight was a dipper, an exceptional sighting indeed.

Tackle, bait and tactics

Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 8 hook.

A sharp drop-off from the margins, so fishing in six-feet of water, just off the rod tip.

I loose fed prawns and fished worm on the hook.

Nature notes while fishing

Eight  redwing flocks (c.4-30 birds in the separate groups) passing through.

Lots of jay activity and at least three birds in the immediate area.

Dipper landed on overhanging branches on the far bank of the pool. It stayed there for quite some time and, with the help of my binoculars, I got a great view.

Ring-necked parakeets c.8 in noisy flight.
