🎣 Fishing in 5,000 mph winds
I went through a stage many years ago, when I used to fish what I called campaigns.
Without setting out to do so, that’s what I’ve been doing again for a while, in the sense that I’ve been targeting specific species on particular venues using a focused bait.
When my tench campaign finished at the end of August, I began prawn fishing for perch on a small pool.
One-third of the way into October, I’m still doing more of the same.

Tackle, bait and tactics
Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.
Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.
A sharp drop-off from the margins, so fishing in six-feet of water, just off the rod tip.
I loose fed prawns but no brown crumb on this occasion.
The reason for that was to create minimum disturbance, therefore hoping to keep the pike at bay.
Plus, baiting exclusively with prawn, I also hoped to avoid the shoals of small roach, which also act as a magnet for the aforementioned predator.
Nature notes while fishing
Individual sightings of jays (two) in flight.
Six noisy ring-necked parakeets flew into woodland alongside the pool.
Single raven, calling in flight.
