🎥 The Hound Of The Baskervilles (1959) starring Peter Cushing and Vincent Price

Based on the 1902 novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the Hammer Film Productions was the first Hound Of The Baskervilles to be filmed in colour.

Peter Cushing stars as Sherlock Holmes and Christopher Lee as Sir Henry Baskerville.

It was filmed in Surrey and had several variations from the original novel.

Although the Conan Doyle Estate didn’t approve of the changes, nevertheless it doesn’t take away from the well-known film at all, as they were mostly minor anyway.

Anyone (and there can’t be many who aren’t) who is familiar with the story, knows the plot.

Following the death of the previous Sir Baskerville, Holmes and Watson are hired to investigate the story of the hound.

Moving to Dartmoor, they uncover the plot to kill the current Sir Baskerville.

It’s Stapleton and his daughter, who farm in the area, who are behind it. As next-in-line-relatives, they would inherit the estate.
