🎥 The Curse Of Frankenstein (1957) starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee
Based loosely on the 1818 Mary J Shelly novel, The Curse Of Frankenstein was Hammer Film Productions’ first colour horror film and the first in a series of Frankenstein movies.
Set in 19th Century Switzerland, It starts with Dr. Frankenstein (played by Peter Cushing) in prison awaiting execution as he begins to tell his story to a priest.
He begins experimenting with body parts and creates a monster (Christopher Lee).
His scientist friend, Paul Krempe (played by Robert Urquhart), after initially working in partnership with him, then pulls away when he realises how sinister the experiments have become.
The monster is eventually killed by Frankenstein, who falls in a vat of acid and is destroyed, but he’s arrested for killing his maid, which the monster did, not the doctor himself.
Then, the story goes back to the prison, with Krempe visiting Frankenstein.
He speaks to his friend and begs him to tell the truth but he doesn’t, realising that Frankenstein is insane and can’t be trusted ever again.
It ends with him being taken to the guillotine.
