🎥 The Devil At 4 O’clock (1961) starring Spencer Tracy and Frank Sinatra
The most expensive Columbia Pictures movie at the time with a budget of $5,721,786, The Devil At 4 O’clock made $4,550,000 at the box office.
Filmed in Hawaii and California, a small plane stops at the fictitious island of Talua for an overnight stay, before destination Tahiti.
Three prisoners are on board, including Harry (played by Frank Sinatra).
The resident priest, Father Doonan (played by Spencer Tracy), takes the three to a neighbouring island to help with the children’s home, where they all have leprosy.
While there, the volcano erupts and, while no one else will help the children, the convicts do.
The children are led to safety and evacuated but, under different circumstances, all three prisoners and Father Doonan perish.
