❄️ Blogging in January 2025

🎣 A morning pool angling session with a few on the bank and one lost

It was a very mild start to the day and, after the initial rain had passed, a very pleasant morning indeed.

In fact, I was in the early stages of sweating, with the layers that I had on.

Wearing the same clothes that a couple of days ago, I was wondering whether I had toes and fingers.

Anyone who lives in the British Isles knows all about the ever-changing weather.

Although the conditions were excellent, the fishing on the small pool was slow, with the bites that I had reminiscent of children playing with their food.

I still caught though. A few roach plus a lost bream.

I fished a couple of rod-lengths out, in six feet of water, over brown crumb and red/white maggots, with two red maggots on the hook, just off a sharp drop-off.

Tackle

Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan 1.2g float. Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook.

Nature notes

Several vocal jackdaws in woodland next to the pool. Raven flew into the wood, likewise two noisy ring-necked parakeets
