❄️ Blogging in January 2025

🎣 It’s cold, let’s go fishing, and my first perch of the year on the bank

As you can see from the start of the video, before I could go fishing this morning, it was a case of scraping the ice from the windshield.

By the time I reached the end of the road, I had to stop, because the ice had built up in the meantime.

With the rod rings freezing, the conditions continued to be an issue, as far as fishing was concerned.

However, as long as your baits in the water you’ve always got a chance and, although the session was a very slow one indeed, I did manage to avoid a blank.

Surprisingly, I didn’t catch a roach. In fact, just one fish on the bank in the short session and it was a perch.

My first one of the year.

I fished in five feet of water, over brown crumb and red/white maggots, with two red maggots on the hook, towards branches trailing in the water.
