🎣 Talking angling on radio, our best premium bonds reveal to date and the first fishing session of the winter
The video this time gets underway with footage from my weekly angling chat with Jeff Pearson for his afternoon show on Bayside Radio.
We also do a Welsh football slot as well, with the two going out Thursday and Friday respectively.
I didn’t go to bed until after midnight, mostly because I wasn’t tired anyway, but also due to the fact that it was premium bonds reveal time.
It was actually the best month we’ve ever had. My six wins came to £425 and my wife’s four totalled £150, so £575 in all.
Up nice and early the next morning, I fished a pond for my first session of the winter.
I did have a few dips on the float, but the fish were quite picky with their food,
That’s certainly the impression I got.
However, I did manage to end up on the right side of the line with small roach.
It was a short session of two hours.
How’s your winter fishing going so far?
Tackle, bait and tactics
Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.
Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 14 hook.
I fished beneath overhanging trees in two metres of water, which is by far the deepest section on the pond.
Bait was three red maggots over brown crumb and red/white maggots.
Nature notes
A very noisy ring-necked parakeet flew high overhead into woodland, followed by a pair an hour or so later.
Two resident moorhens, a pair of mallards and a coot, the only water birds on the pond.
Grey heron and sparrowhawk both in flight.
