🎣 My new toy and I’ve yet to blank this winter on the fishing front
There’s a brief mention in the video and there’s more to come in due course, but for now, I’ve got a new toy.
What did I say in yesterday’s blog about the weather?
Well, a day later it was very mild indeed.
Rather than my usual morning approach though, this time I was out late afternoon and up to dark.
I was still pond fishing however, so that was the common denominator for both sessions.
It was a very short trip, but, as always, as far as time is concerned it’s definitely all about quality not quantity.
I caught roach. Nothing big, but it means so far this winter I have yet to blank.
Tackle, bait and tactics
Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.
Home-made 3” float. Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook.
Fished towards overhanging trees in water that was five feet deep, presenting one white maggot on a size 16 hook.
Fished over brown crumb and red/white maggots.
Nature notes
Raven in flight, calling.
Ten mallards on the pool, feeding off the surface, on insects active due to the mild conditions.
