🎣 Talk angling, buy bait, go fishing and my wife is boosting the economy

After I recorded my weekly angling chat for Bayside Radio, I went and bought some maggots.

Then, I went fishing.

On a pool, and in a swim that didn’t have any obvious features, I cast out a couple of rod-lengths from the bank and waited.

Seconds later, I had a bite and that pretty much continued throughout the session, with regular action.

I did wonder whether I would catch any perch, as we are continuing with a mild spell, but in the end it was an all-roach cast that made its way on the bank.

Some of the fish caught are in the video, as well as other stuff as well.

Tackle, bait and tactics

Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

Home-made 3” float. Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook.

Two rod-lengths from the bank in six-feet of water.

Fished one/two white maggots over brown crumb and red/white maggots.

Nature notes

Two ring-necked parakeets calling in flight, landing in far bank trees.

Green woodpecker calling in flight.

Female sparrowhawk flew across the pool, which prompted a blackbird to break out in a warning call.
