🎣 A Sunday morning return to the roach pond

After yesterday‘s session and the interesting scenario with the fish regarding location, I was intrigued enough to return to the same swim, and cast to the spot where I had the roach.

The silvers were still there and, after a short wait for my first bite, it was action all the way again.

Not necessarily a fish every cast though, as I had more sucked maggots than roach, but nevertheless, it was a busy 1.5 hour session.

Tackle, bait and tactics

Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

Home-made 3” float. Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook.

Two rod-lengths from the bank in five feet of water, beneath an overhanging tree.

Fished one/two white maggots over brown crumb and red/white maggots.

Nature notes

Raven calling in flight, across farmland beyond the pond.

Two ring-necked parakeets calling in flight, landing in far bank trees.
