❄️ December 2024

☔️ Storm damage and a sign that, even in the darkest times, there’s hope if you look for it

Storms have always been a part of the British weather landscape, but the one that we’ve had this weekend, Storm Darragh, has been particularly brutal.

Therefore, it was no surprise when we had our very first storm damage attack since we moved into our home, over four years ago.

However, I’m happy to say that it was just a single fence panel.

It is totally smashed though and needs replacing.

There’s a second one that’s slightly damaged, so I might get the two done at the same time. Makes sense.

I was thinking to myself, that the fence panel people will be rubbing their hands with a glee, once this weekend is over.

Invariably, whatever happens in life, there will be winners as well as losers.

After I sorted the panel and got it ready for disposal, I spent a couple of hours in the garden – both back and front – gathering leaves and twigs etc that the storm had deposited.

I noticed that we’ve also got snowdrops coming through, which is a couple of weeks before astronomical winter begins.

It’s a sign, isn’t it, that even during the darkest times, there’s always hope if you look for it.
