Atrocious conditions, but as long as your bait’s in the water you’ve always got a chance
🎣 Battling the elements, as we finally say farewell to summer
The weather has a certainly taken a turn downhill in the last couple of days, with heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds.
However, the angling show continues.
I wouldn’t fish in a storm – for obvious reasons – but as far as the other two are concerned, it’s not even an issue.
Of course, safety is very important, and that’s why you choose the correct swim during times of strong winds or slippery banks.
Back to my small pool though, as I mentioned in a previous blog entry, it’s relatively sheltered, so the excess of the wind in particular was not felt as much as if I’d been on other places.
The one potential problem that I did foresee, was with the water being heavily coloured, due to soil that has been washed in by the rain.
I was hoping that the pike would have a day off, but, as I threw out my initial attractor bait, that was not the case.
However, although it wasn’t as busy as usual, which was perfectly understandable, at least I caught.
And in style, especially when you take the venue into account.
The bream was followed by perch and tench.
As far as the weather is concerned, whether you go by the astronomical or meteorological definition, the reality is that we have now finally said farewell to summer.
