On the right side of the line with a late September tench
🎣 Although the weather takes a turn for the worse, the angling continues
After a very short dry spell, the rain has returned. With a vengeance.
It certainly affected my chasing of worms yesterday evening, however the angling show still goes on, as I raided my bait freezer this morning for a bag of prawns.
Naturally, the pool that I fished was coloured, due to the soil that had been washed in by the continual heavy rain that we had during the night.
As long as your bait’s in the water though, you’ve always got a chance, and second cast in, I found myself playing what eventually turned out to be a small tench.
The pike weren’t deterred by the water clarity and they were very active.
Come the end of the short session, I was more than happy to be on the right side of the line with the tinca.
🪱 Tackle, bait and tactics
Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.
Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.
A sharp drop-off from the margins, so fishing in six-feet of water, just off the rod tip.
Initially throwing out a small amount of brown crumb and prawns, I then fed a few loose prawns.
🦆 Nature notes while fishing
One very vocal ring-necked parakeet in flight across the pool, heading for woodland.
