Another angling session pursuing perch with prawn
🎣 Although I set an alarm to wake me in the morning, invariably I’m stirred before the iPhone bursts into song.
It’s not as if I’m a light sleeper either, although having said that, with my dog continually climbing over us, getting underneath the quilt, then out again, my night in bed isn’t as disturbed-free as it could be.
However, I never wake up feeling that I haven’t been to bed.
Fishing a small pool, I continued with my prawn-after-perch approach.
Although I didn’t need the landing net, I caught, but above all I enjoyed it.
🪱 Tackle, bait and tactics
Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.
Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.
A sharp drop-off from the margins, so fishing in six-feet of water, just off the rod tip.
Initially throwing out a small amount of brown crumb and prawns, I then fed loose prawns on a trickle basis, in accordance with the frequency of bites.
🦆 Nature notes while fishing
Several horse chestnuts in the area where I fished, all looking magnificent in their autumn colours. I captured some of that in the video.
I heard it first, before I saw it, as a grey heron looked to land alongside the pool but, when it saw me, it circled back and disappeared elsewhere.
