The last angling session of September
🎣 Quality rather than quantity on the pool
After a short spell of dry weather, in which I managed to cut the lawns at home, it’s now back to rain.
I am enjoying my small pool fishing, which has taken up most of September, and that’s how I saw the month out as well.
Up before dawn, I made my way to the venue, cast out, and early in the session banked a nice perch.
I got in there before the pike arrived. Yes, they are very much a nuisance on this particular place.
However, with the pike season beginning tomorrow, I will be returning in due course, not with prawns, but dead baits.
That’s for then though, but for now you can follow the session, as always, in the video.
As well as perch, I also caught a bream.
🪱 Tackle, bait and tactics
Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.
Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.
A sharp drop-off from the margins, so fishing in six-feet of water, just off the rod tip.
I threw out a couple of balls of brown crumb and prawns initially, then fed according to the bites.
🦆 Nature notes while fishing
I heard them first, then saw eight ring-necked parakeets, as they flew into woodland.
Right at the end of the session, a calling raven flew overhead.
