🎣 An early morning tench session and it comes good in the end
The lake that I’ve been predominantly fishing for a number of weeks now, has certainly slowed down, as far as tench are concerned.
I know that, not only from my own catch-rate, but also that of other anglers on the venue.
On arrival for this session, although the surface of the water was as calm as could be, without even a ripple to disturb its serenity, there was not even a tiny cluster of tench feeding bubbles to be seen anywhere.
I still went through the pre-casting ritual though of throwing a few balls of brown crumb and corn out.
A comfortable twenty metres from the bank, it was then a case of flicking the lead out, putting the rod on the rest, pouring my first cup of tea of the day and waiting.
And waiting.
And waiting.
It came good in the end though.
When the feeding bubbles appeared in the swim, it was an encouraging sign.
My original intention to fish for a couple of hours became three.
On my last cast, the rod tip pulled round, the fish went on a run, I played and netted it and I wasn’t a blanker.
