🎣Small pool fishing to start the day
Although I didn’t get to bed until after midnight, I was still awake a few hours later and ready to go fishing.
My body clock has certainly tuned itself to the current timescale of early starts.
I fished a small pool where, although they are present, tench are very much a needle in a haystack species.
I didn’t catch any tincas but on venues like that you do have to be realistic.
The roach were very obliging though, so there was plenty of action in the couple of hours that I fished.
I presented a grain of corn alongside lilies and loose fed brown crumb and sweetcorn.
Tackle: Fox Barbel Special 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel. 6lb Maxima Chameleon, with a six-inch hook-length created by a small shot and an 8mm bead. Above that was a 1/2 ounce lead. Size 10 Drennan Super Specialist hook.
Nature notes: Two vocal ring-necked parakeets in flight. Grey wagtail seen several times in flight low across the pool.
