July 4
Mobbed by carrion crows, a red kite made its way north to south over the valley.
July 9
Lots of badgers in the valley, one ran across the road (off Straits Road) as I was driving home 11.00 p.m.
July 10
Three swifts over the golf course.
July 11
Three swift sightings, all single birds.
Five blackbirds feeding on the green.
July 14
Single ring-necked parakeet in SE flight across the green.
July 18
A lesser black-backed gull perched on its regular spot first thing this morning, a telegraph pole in Longfellow Road near the junction with Wordsworth Road.
July 19
Male marsh harrier in southerly flight along eastern slope.
July 25
Two muntjac showing well in woodland just off the lower lane.
Cinnabar moth caterpillars on common ragwort.
July 27
Ten swifts sighted from a walk down the lane and back home. No doubt some duplicate birds, most seen at one time was three.
July 30
Three swifts over the eastern ridge.
July 31
Calling regular lesser black-backed gull on the telegraph pole in Longfellow Road.
