July 1
A jackdaw landed very briefly on the feeding station before flying off.
Two juvenile robins in the garden.
July 4
Mobbed by carrion crows, a red kite made its way north to south over the valley.
July 6
Three stock doves on the lawn together, as the regular pair and single bird arrived at the same time.
July 7
Nuthatch on the feeding station.
Male blackbird gathering food in the garden and then flying on to its nest.
July 9
Juvenile jackdaw in the garden for about thirty minutes.
July 11
Regular house sparrows in the garden for some time: males, females and juveniles. About 10
July 17
Sparrowhawk perched on the feeding station. It’s the one we had recently, easily identified by a white patch on the back of its head.
July 18
Bird numbers remain low since the regular appearance of the sparrowhawk. The c.10 house sparrows aren’t bothered though, they’re still there.
July 19
Male marsh harrier in southerly flight along eastern slope. A new tick for the year.
July 20
Hedgehog in the garden, under the feeding station.
July 25
We’ve had two juvenile blackbirds pretty much make the garden their home since they’ve flown the nest.
July 27
One swift late evening visible from the garden.
