🎣 There are times when you push on, but there are also times when you can’t
After travelling through the night, I arrived back home fairly early and, after spending a couple of hours with my wife, I went to bed for a nap.
I had some post match media stuff to do, we had our granddaughter with us and we went shopping.
No fishing though because just like professional footballers have a day of recovery following a game, I also had a day of rest and relaxation.
However, this morning I was up nice and early, and on my way to fish the lake that has featured in many of my recent sessions, in pursuit of tench.
I went through my usual routine of mixing brown crumb and sweetcorn, throwing a few balls out at 20 metres, hooking a grain of corn on the hook and then casting out, tightening up, settling back and making my first cup of tea of the day.
I had a take within a few minutes, but unfortunately it resulted in a hook-pull.
However, I was confident that I would get a fish eventually, because I could see feeding bubbles, and on this occasion I was getting liners and plucks.
In recent sessions, the venue has been a real struggle as far as tench are concerned.
I had to wait more than two hours before the next take, but unfortunately, as per the first one, the hook parted company with the fish in the early stages of the fight.
Would it be a case of, as they say, third time lucky?
Well, I decided to fish beyond the intended time to put that theory to the test and the video reveals whether it worked out or not.
