🎣 Another cold toes start to the day but the angling show continues regardless of the conditions and, once again, some nice perch from the canal
Today’s start to the day was identical to yesterday: Dry, still, chilly and lots of mist. I was also on the same stretch of Staffs/Worcs Canal at first-light and, once again, I was setting my stall out for perch.
The section in question is not far from a busy main road and, hearing the occasional prolonged blast of the horn, it reminds me that I am more than happy to be ‘in the world but not of it’.
As per yesterday’s session, it was slow but, like that visit, I caught. On this occasion it was perch (several) and roach (two) and, as always, you can follow proceedings via the video.
On the nature front, a grey heron flew low over the canal, passing right in front of me. The stretch is a stronghold for American mink and I didn’t see one single water bird. Many years ago, it was home to a healthy population of mallards and moorhens.
