This is a blog post of two-halves, although both are very much connected with each other. Today (September 22), I celebrate nine months of retirement. I talk about that at the start of the video and, when I say I have enjoyed every moment of it, that is not an exaggeration.

Then there’s the fishing, which is one of the big winners as far as this stage of my life is concerned. If you have followed my blog posts over time, then you’ll know that angling hasn’t exactly been on the back burner, even when I worked full-on and full-time.

Now though, my favourite pastime has moved to the next level. The big plus, is that I no longer have to consider work, so the days of having to fit everything in around a fixture list have long since gone. The last nine months have been as good as life gets.

As for the second-half of the blog post, you can follow the angling session via the video, where all of it actually, was recorded on the river bank. I fished for three hours and caught chub (lots), gudgeon (several) and perch (one).

I saw two kingfisher sightings and, although I didn’t see them, there were noisy ring-necked parakeets in the area.
