🎣 Saturday morning fishing on the Staffs/Worcs Canal for the penultimate session of summer
For the second session on the bounce, I was back on the Staffordshire/Worcestershire Canal, except this time it was a solo outing. I must say though, I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday’s trip to the canal, where my grandson caught his first fish.
The days are getting much shorter now and just before 6.00 a.m. is the earliest that you can cast a line without artificial light.
This session was a couple of hours in length and I caught perch and roach. It wasn’t what you call prolific, however, and if I could use just one word to describe the fish action, I would say ‘trickle’.
It was still very enjoyable though, but then again, isn’t every one? That’s a rhetorical question, but the way.
On the nature front, I fed maggots to a juvenile robin and heard a pheasant call from the field behind the swim.
They say time flies and I can’t believe how quickly summer has passed. This was my penultimate angling session of the season, so just one more to go until autumn gets underway.
