🎣 Back-to-back carp sessions in the margins and I’m off the mark, albeit with a tinca
Certainly more of a challenge than my previous seven angling sessions on the bounce – where I fished with maggots on the Staffs/Worcs Canal – I did a couple of early morning starts in pursuit of lake carp.
It’s not a ‘runs’ water either, so with three-hour, first-light trips planned, it was always going to be a result if I could get just one fish on the bank.
Following a blank, that’s exactly what I achieved on the return, albeit with a tinca and not a carp.
I fished two separate swims, between 1-2 rod-lengths from the bank, close to the edge of lilies, as the water began to deepen.
The fish was banked two-thirds of the way in and, as you would expect, came in rather tamely on carp gear.
I fished a 14mm M2 pop-up boilie over boilies and pellets.
Tackle: Rock Tackle 2.75 test curve rods, Shimano 6000 reels, 16lb line and size 4 hooks.
Nature notes: Five swallows briefly over the lake. Pair of calling ravens in flight. Two goosanders circled and then landed on the water.
