🎣 Once, twice, three times a blanker

You can’t fault me for perseverance and, following on from my last angling-related blog post, where I did a trio of sessions in pursuit of carp, it’s a case of groundhog day this time, as I once again visited the lake three times.

The first two trips were early morning ones, so having the choice of pegs, I fished the shallow end. Averaging four hours each session, my baits remained untouched.

Returning for another go, this time it was late afternoon and the lake was much busier.

Like any angler on a venue that they are familiar with, I have my preferred options in mind when I go fishing.

With a, b and c occupied, I dropped in somewhere else. I will confess that I didn’t have a plan d but it certainly didn’t create any confidence issues.

Yes, in spite of a run of fish-less sessions, I was still positive.

After all, it’s not a runs water and, compared to the rod hours that many put in, I wasn’t exactly pressing the panic button.

Was it a case of ‘third time lucky’, as they say? Well, the heading answers that one…

I fished 14mm M2 pop-up boilie and bottom boilie over loose boilies and pellets.

Tackle: Rock Tackle 2.75 test curve rods, Shimano 6000 reels, 16lb line and size 4 hooks.

Nature notes: Cormorant circled the lake, fed briefly before moving on. Common sandpiper further along the bank. Calling ring-necked parakeet in flight. Six mistle thrushes in flight together.
