🎣 A frosty start to the day
As you can see in the video, before I was able to set off from the drive I had to do some ice scraping.
Yes, it’s that time of the year again.
However, just because the weather turns, it doesn’t mean to say that we have to put the rods away until the spring.
I will fish as much over the next six months as I did during the previous half year.
This morning, I was back on the small pool where I’ve had some very good results in the last couple of weeks.
I knew it would be a challenge today, however, that was obvious.
As long as your bats in the water though, you’ve always got a chance.
Tackle, bait and tactics
Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.
Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.
A sharp drop-off from the margins, so fishing in six-feet of water, just off the rod tip.
I presented a single prawn and, due to the depth of water, I created a firm groundbait mix which contained loose maggots and prawns.
Nature notes while fishing
Grey heron flew low over the pool, looking to land before it saw me.
Cormorant in flight.
Kingfisher perched on overhanging branch on far side of the pool.

⛰️ Great views from the golf course
As soon as I arrived home after fishing, I went for a walk with my binoculars, dog and wife along the golf course.
Located on the western slope of the valley where we live, we didn’t even walk along the ridge but nevertheless, still had great views, aided and abetted by the conditions.
Clearly visible, and looking much closer than they actually are, were Clent Hills, Crib-y-garth, Malvern Hills and Titterstone Clee.
