⚽️ Go to work 🎣 Fishing a big pit after work 🌈 Now you see it, now you don’t
⚽️ At work for an interview, a couple of articles and social media
With a game for The New Saints this coming weekend against Barry Town United, I was at Park Hall for a press conference interview with head coach, Craig Harrison.
With a few other things to do as well, I knew what my schedule was, and as always I wasn’t there too long.
When the players finished training, I did get Ash Baker to sign the programme from the last home game.
Although Ben Clark was the cover boy, there were also smaller images of Ash and Jordan Williams.
That’s now completed, as far as the signatures are concerned, and will be joining the thousands of other items in my personal football memorabilia collection.
🎣 Fishing a big pit on the way home
Invariably, whenever I go to Park Hall during the week, I take some fishing tackle with me.
On this occasion, with the River Severn not quite where I wanted it to be, I decided to fish a pit instead.
I have been on this venue many times before, and it is very often hit-or-miss, as far as catching is concerned.
Well, at least I wasn’t a blanker this time.
Tackle, bait and tactics
Fox Barbel Special 1.5 test curve rod and an Okuma Zeon reel.
6lb Maxima Chameleon, with a six-inch hook-length created by a small shot and 8mm bead.
Above that was a 1/2 ounce lead. Size 10 Drennan Super Specialist hook.
Fishing deep water off overhanging branches, I presented five maggots over mixed maggots and brown crumb.
Nature notes while fishing
Red kite soaring over adjoining meadow.
Four swallows feeding above the pit.
Chiffchaff singing in the late afternoon sunshine.

🌈 Now you see it, now you don’t
When I arrived on the drive at home, the first thing I noticed was a beautiful rainbow in the sky.
It extended from one end of the valley to the other.
However, by the time I had unloaded the car just a couple of minutes later, the rainbow had totally disappeared.
It’s a reminder of the importance of making the most of every opportunity that life presents.
If there’s an open door today, that same door may well be closed tomorrow.
