On the road in Flintshire, as The New Saints beat Airbus UK Broughton 1-0 in the Welsh League Cup
β½οΈ Itβs been a busy season so far for The New Saints and thatβs going to intensify for the remainder of the year, with games each weekend and midweek as well.
As far as the latter is concerned, it was a trip to Flintshire to take on Airbus UK Broughton, in the Nathaniel MG Cup.
Otherwise known as the Welsh League Cup, the competition began in 1992, at the same time that the League of Wales was birthed.
The New Saints has lifted the trophy on ten occasions, more than any other side, and currently the silverware resides at Park Hall, courtesy of a 5-1 win against Swansea City last season.
Although Airbus is a second-tier side, they are doing very well in the JD Cymru North, leading the way with eight wins from as many games.
They proved to be a tough opponent on the night as well.
Come the final whistle, it just was a late goal in the first-half from Adrian Cieslewicz that separated the sides.
Having said that, there were lots of changes in the starting line-up for The New Saints, with Craig Harrison handing out three starting debuts to Academy players.
In the end though, it is The New Saints who go into the quarter-finals draw of the competition.
After the game, I interviewed Craig Harrison and Adrian Cieslewicz.
Ciss also signed my team sheet from the night, which will be added to my personal football memorabilia collection.
