🩸 The blood test 📻 On the radio 🎣 An angling session to end the day

🩸Another needle in the arm

I was in Sedgley this morning for a blood test.

I’ve had three of those in recent months and this one in particular was because my cholesterol level was hovering slightly above where it should be.

I was asked if I wanted medication, but I did enquire as to whether I could do something myself first to reduce the cholesterol and when I had the conversation with the nurse, immediately I thought, “cut out the cheese”.

So, that’s exactly what I did, and I’m looking forward to the results next week to see what the lie of the land is.

📻 On the radio

Once home, I did my weekly recordings with Jeff Pearson for his Bayside Radio afternoon shows.

We talk angling on Thursdays and Welsh football a day later.

I’ve been doing these for quite some time now and, before Bayside, it was a radio station in Rhyl that Jeff worked at before it closed down.

🎣 It’s great to talk about fishing but you can’t beat doing it

However, for as much as I like talking about fishing, you can’t beat being there at the water’s edge, and that’s exactly what I did for the last hour or so of the day.

Especially when time is tight, short trips are an excellent way of still being able to cast a line.

You can follow the session via the video.

Tackle, bait and tactics

Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line.

Drennan 1.2g waggler. Drennan Super Specialist size 10 hook.

A sharp drop-off from the margins, so fishing in six-feet of water, just off the rod tip.

I presented a single prawn and, due to the depth of water, I created a firm groundbait mix which contained loose maggots and prawns.

Nature notes while fishing

Two kingfisher sightings.

Four very vocal ring-necked parakeets in flight.

Two grey wagtails.
