🌸 Blogging in March 2025

💻 An evolving social media presence

Life has seasons and that includes our internet presence as well.

I was online back in the 1990s, in the days when you asked people if they had an email address or a mobile number, so that you could contact them.

Now we just say, what’s your number and what’s your email address.

I can remember the birth of forums and how great it was to chat with people around the world.

Then they became toxic, especially some of the male-dominated fishing ones.

I lost interest.

Next up were the social media platforms. I had Friends Reunited and Myspace, as well as Facebook and Twitter etc etc.

Gradually though, over time as they also drifted, I found myself cutting off and letting them go.

Working in football media, social media was a big part of that, but now I’m no longer engaged in that way and I don’t miss it, I have no desire to return.

What I do have though, is my personal website.

I love blogging and have the same passion as I did on July 5, 2003, when I made my first Stewart Bloor’s Angling Journal post.

I’ve got a YouTube channel but that’s just a host for the videos that accompany the blog.

I don’t consider myself a YouTuber or a Vlogger and I’m certainly not an influencer!

I’m just someone who enjoys sharing his thoughts and I treat the blog as a personal journal.

I enjoy reminiscing in the same way that we used to many years ago, when we would get the photograph albums out and enjoy the memories.

I most definitely appreciate everyone who drops by though and checks on the updates.

If that’s you, thanks!
