Based on a true story, where Gene Hambleton was shot down behind enemy lines in the Vietnam War – and spent 11 1/2 days evading capture – before being rescued by US military.
Gene Hackman plays Hambleton and Danny Glover is Captain ‘Birddog’ Clark, who devotes his energy to the rescue mission.
Knowing that the brutal Communist North Vietnamese are listening in to the radio contact between Hambleton and Clark, the former who is a really keen golfer, uses golfing terminology to confuse them.
A riveting film, it ends with the rescuing of both Hambleton and Clark, after the helicopter they were initially in is shot down.
