🎣 First angling session of spring pursuing mini-species
As far as the seasons are concerned, I personally follow the meteorological system. Therefore, welcome to spring.
If you adhere to the astronomical dates, then you’ve got to wait until March 20.
My first angling session of the new month was on a small brook, one which has featured regularly in my outings after three-spined sticklebacks.
Again, I caught fish in the short time I was there, with the best one registering 2.8g on the scales.

Tackle: Poachers Pocket mini-rod and reel. Reel line was 4lb Maxima Chameleon straight through. A small shot was nipped on the line, four inches from the Drennan Super Specialist size 16 hook. Bait was a single red/white maggot, which I nipped with scissors.
Nature notes: Heard two pheasants calling from woodland around the brook but didn’t see either. Likewise, a very vocal green woodpecker. Lots of lesser celandine and ramsons coming through but no flowers yet.
