🎣 Tench fishing to begin the working week, my radio slot has been recorded and news for Himley Hall anglers
I’ve enjoyed the recent run of afternoon sessions fishing shallow water, but it was time to move on, both in terms of depth and target species.
Therefore, as the general population began its working week, I was on the bank of a pool at first thing, in pursuit of tench.
With lots of vegetation beneath the surface of the water, it proved to be a tough nut to crack but, right at the end of the 2.75 hours that I was there, I caught.
Fishing prawn over loose prawns and brown crumb, I struck, played, netted and posed with a tinca in front of my iPhone.
I’m not sure I’ll return to that spot again, but it was a positive result today, and that’s the important thing.
Tackle: Greys Prodigy TX 12’ rod. Shimano 3500M reel. Maxima Chameleon 4lb line. Drennan waggler 1.2g. Drennan Super Specialist size 8 hook.
Nature notes: Several kingfisher sightings, probably the same bird. Grey heron landed on the far bank, saw me and immediately flew away. Female mallard with three well-developed young.
It was recording day with Bayside Radio for my angling slot, so I did that once I was home.
I’m always asked the question if I have been fishing that morning and, as it fitted nicely, I recorded the reply for the video.
The station is based in north Wales and the half an hour slot I have goes out on Thursday afternoons.
I recently posted that Himley Hall was closed for fishing due to carp spawning.
The good news is today (June 23) it’s open again, as the following excerpt from an email confirms.
‘The lake at Himley has now re opened. Thanks for your co operation during this period.’
